Work Experience Programs Grades 9-12 Internship and Seminar The Work Experience Program is a partnership between high schools and businesses supervised by a licensed work coordinator. The program includes an Internship and Seminar course. Students enrolled in the Work Experience Program attend school part of the day, attending required classes which may include a Seminar class. Students leave school to participate in an internship. Work coordinators assist in finding appropriate internships of interest and value for each student. While enrolled in the Work Experience Program students earn credits, meet Saint Paul Public School district standards, and follow all Department of Labor rules. Students may participate in the program for up to two years. Each student creates a Six-Year Plan, which is required for graduation. They learn how to research careers and post-secondary education. Students also learn employment skills including: job application, resumes, interviewing, job success skills, and maintaining personal finances. Many of the student internships lead to full-time employment with benefits, including employer-sponsored college tuition. Students with special education needs will enroll in courses taught and coordinated by a licensed special education work coordinator. Click on link below to download PDF copy of curriculum guide: |
